fusion-movement-fb-1-27-1

Valentine’s Day is coming, and you haven’t found a date yet? Don’t you worry. That may be the best thing that could happen to you because, without the distraction of a new flirt on the horizon, you can finally dedicate yourself to the most important person in your life: YOU!

Why date yourself?

We know that Valentine’s Day can feel terrible for some if they’re single, but self-love is far more important than romantic love.

We’ve been taught that only another person can complete and fulfill us, but that’s a big, fat lie. Deep deep down, you know it, too. The most important relationship that you will ever have, the truly defining relationship that you can count on forever, is the one with yourself. Like any other relationship, it needs work and effort, cultivating and attention. That’s reason enough for us to try and date yourself this Valentine’s Day.

Even if you’re in a relationship, learning how to date yourself can improve your mood, strengthen your self-worth, and make you a better person and partner. In fact, dating yourself has nothing to do with your relationship status. It’s about who you are inside and how to take your power back to express yourself fully, without fear, shame, or guilt.

Do you really know who you are?
Do you love yourself?
Would you go out with you?

Dating yourself is an excellent way to find answers to all these questions and step out of your comfort zone to meet your authentic self.

Tips to date yourself.

A great solo date should tick at least a couple of these boxes:

  • It has to be fun;
  • It has to be relaxing;
  • It has to be interesting;
  • It has to push you outside of your comfort zone;
  • It has to be exciting.

Other than that, there are no proper rules. You can decide to head out or stay in; dress up or keep it casual – it’s entirely up to you and how you’re feeling in the moment.

Spending time alone might feel intimidating at first, so we’d suggest you make a plan beforehand. Start with something that you really like and doesn’t require anyone’s company to be enjoyable. It could be a visit to the museum, a movie, a lunch at a new café, a dance class, a stroll downtown. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something that nourishes your soul and makes you feel happy.

During your date, give yourself the courtesy to be fully present. Don’t look at your phone, don’t rush – just be in the moment. Take in your surroundings and take things at your own pace. Learning to enjoy your own company is refreshing, inspiring, and liberating. It’s like being alone without feeling lonely. EVER.
Try it.

How to Date Yourself Daily.

Taking yourself out on a proper date is a wonderful idea, but there are many little things and gestures that you can do every day to show yourself love and nurture your solo romance.

1. Choose Yourself.
Set clear boundaries about what you want to do and when. Drop all expectations and don’t be afraid to express the real you.

2- Feel Sexy Every day.
Shower, shave, put on your favorite red lipstick, do your hair, wear some sexy lingerie. Do whatever makes you feel sexy every day. Make time for it – you deserve it!

3- Clean your space.
Keep your house clean like you’d do if you were expecting your significant other or a new hot guest.

4- Prepare Slow Meals.
Going out to the restaurant is fun, but so it is to cook something at home just for yourself. Take time to prepare delicious and nutritious food for yourself. Even add in some wine and a dessert here and there. Why not. Right?!

5- Give yourself Gifts.
Flowers, chocolate, a new dress…give yourself little presents to remind yourself how important you are.

6. Leave yourself Notes and Letters.
Stick notes on the mirror with your favorite quotes, pictures, or positive affirmations. Write yourself juicy and romantic love letters. You’re worth it.

7- Learn to Talk Positively about yourself.
It’s easy to talk ourselves down and let our inner voice sabotage our efforts. But you wouldn’t go on and on about how bad, unsuccessful and unlovable you are on a date, would you? Take the same approach when talking to yourself, and you’ll see beautiful things happen in your life.

8. Get to Know You.
Take time to self-reflect and learn who you really are. You can journal if you like, as putting down goals, aspirations, and feelings in writing is usually a very good way to process them without getting lost.

9- Develop a Night Time Ritual.
Give yourself time and space to get ready for bed. It’s not just about your beauty regime but an act of pure self-care. Turn the lights down, light a candle, do some stretching, give yourself a massage with your favorite essential oils, meditate. Whatever you do, do it with love and intention.

10- Indulge in Self Pleasure.
Romantic relationships usually involve sex, don’t they? Ending your day with a mind-shattering orgasm is the ultimate expression of self-love and helps you feel more empowered. So, go on and explore all the types of orgasms you can think of and sink into your pleasure.

At Fusion Movement, we want to encourage women to claim their autonomy back and step into their power in their daily lives.

We know that self-love often gets at the bottom of many women’s priority list. Modern women are under a lot of pressure to be perfect in every aspect of their lives that often forget the nature of their true power: their sensuality. And sensuality needs space and time to blossom.

Date yourself this Valentine’s Day and nurture your inner goddess!
