What is an orgasm?

An orgasm is described as a climax of sexual excitement, usually characterized by feelings of pleasure in the genitals and other erogenous zones resulting from stimulation and arousal.

Now that we’ve got the ‘scientific definition’ out of the way, let’s focus on the juicy part.

According to the 2010 National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior, women with vulvas are more likely to experience orgasm when they engage in various sexual acts. That means that you’ve got to mix it up if you want to make things spicier under the sheets and get the most explosive orgasm of your life. 💋

So what’s your takeaway from this study? We think it’s high time you explore your sexuality–whether you’re partnered or solo. And to get you started, we’ve rounded up our favorite types of female orgasms below.

Types of Female Orgasms

1. Clitoral Orgasm

Clitoral orgasms are easily the most enjoyable kind of sexual stimulation for women, according to several studies.

The clitoris is a very complex organ with more than 8,000 nerve endings and is rightly considered a powerhouse of pleasure. It’s mostly made of erectile tissue, which takes time to become fully aroused. This is why foreplay is so important.

What’s the best kind of stimulation to experience a great clitoral orgasm? According to a survey:

61% prefer a sucking motion or oral sex

58% prefer pulsing or vibrating
54% prefer an up-and-down stroking motion
50% prefer circle or oval strokes
45% prefer a side to side motion
41% prefer strokes in wide circles or ovals
32% prefer pushing in one spot
26% prefer flicking or thrusting
21% prefer tapping
13% prefer pinching
12% prefer a diagonal motion
12% prefer biting

2. The G-spot Orgasm

You thought that the G-spot was one of those urban legends, didn’t you? Well, you’d be pleased to know that the G-spot IS real, and we also have a rough idea of where it may be located. Try inserting a finger inside the vagina at the level of your belly button and make a ‘come here’ motion. You’ll feel a spongy and ridged area – that’s your G-spot.

Now, it might feel odd or uncomfortable to stimulate it at first. You may even feel as if you need to pee. That’s normal. The trick is to find the best ways to play with the G-spot to stimulate it. Some ideas–

* Gentle strokes at the front vaginal wall
* Intense thrusting
* Putting pressure on the area
* Alternating speeds during sex
* Build-up from slow to fast

Try different motions, angles, and speeds to find what gives you the most pleasure.

3. Nipple Orgasm

Nipples are a very sensitive erogenous zone. MRI scans have shown that nipple stimulation activates the same parts of the brain as genital stimulation. That means that your brain can’t tell the difference whether you’re touching your clitoris or your nipple. Amazing, right?

On the premise that you’ve never experienced a nipple orgasm before and are willing to put science to the test, here’s our tip. We recommend you forget about the orgasm altogether and focus on the pleasure instead. You may even experiment with oils and lubricants, play with temperature, or try clamps and suction toys.

Take it easy and enjoy the exploration.

4. Anal Orgasm

Most nerves in the anal area are concentrated in the perineum, the zone between the anus and the vulva. It is possible to reach orgasm from external stimulation of this area or from inside your anus. The A-spot is, in fact, a very sensitive tissue at the very back of the vagina, near the cervix, and the easiest way to get to it is through your butt.

But first thing first is – use lube…ALWAYS. Remember to take your time. Start slow with a finger or some of the fantastic anal toys available on the market, like butt plugs, anal beads, and dildos. Stimulating your anus may feel awkward at first, but once you find the right way to stimulate it, you’ll take pleasure to new heights – guaranteed.

5. Cervical Orgasm

The cervix is located at the very back of the vaginal canal. Be careful though, because this part of your body may be very sensitive, especially if you’re menstruating or preparing to menstruate. Some people may even feel pain when their cervix is stimulated.

There are no specific instructions for reaching a cervical orgasm, so it’s all down to how you want to explore what kind of pleasure this area brings you. 💋

6. Blended Orgasm

Often described as the ‘Holy Grail’ of orgasms, the blended orgasm is basically the result of two or more sexual stimulations happening simultaneously. It could be your clitoris and G-spot (the most common), or your nipples and anus. You can get as creative as you want here!

Don’t mistake this for having more than one orgasm at a time. A blended orgasm simply means having one big, powerful and explosive climax, through combined organ stimulation.

If you want to give it a go, you can start from a clitoris + G-spot stimulation. Use your fingers to caress the clitoris and just when you’re starting to feel aroused, you can try inserting a finger and reach for your G-spot. Keep stimulating both your clitoris and G-spot until you get to the peak of pleasure or for as long as it pleases you.

Some sex toys are actually designed specifically for this, so you may want to check those out too.

7. Full Body Orgasm

Orgasm isn’t necessarily the only goal of sex–the road to pleasure is just as important. But you should definitely make an exception for full-body orgasms.

This type of orgasm doesn’t depend on the parts of the body that you stimulate. In fact, you can experience it from any kind of sexual stimulation.

A full-body orgasm doesn’t focus on your genitals. Instead, stimulation and arousal is meant to expand and move up and down the entire body, overcoming you like a wave. It feels like pulsating, vibrating, and being showered with pleasure.

If you want to experiment with it, our suggestion is to breathe deeply, make wave-like movements and stimulate your upper body to allow your sexual energy to flow.

8. Tantric Orgasm

This type of orgasm is all about your sexual energy, and it doesn’t necessarily involve physical touch. The only thing you need to do is completely let go of your mind and find a deep connection with your erotic flow.

If you want to get physical, though, keep in mind the three elements of tantra: breath, sound, and movement. They’re all essential to move your sexual energy throughout your body, from the bottom to the top.

Start by relaxing and visualizing yourself, stimulating your genitals slowly and sensually. Then, in rhythm with your breath, undulate and create a wave-like motion with your body. Finally, make loud noises to help build up the erotic flow. Increase the speed of motion, breath, and moan until you finally reach the orgasmic peak.

9. Coregasm

Apparently, there are women who can experience orgasm during exercise, especially when training their core muscles. If you’re one of these lucky few, we cannot think of a better motivation to crush that abs session at the gym, can you?

The poses below can trigger coregasms:
* Boat pose
* Eagle pose
* Leg lifts and chin-ups

If you’re not the sporty type and have no clue on how to do those poses, a quick Google search is all that stands in the way between you and your ability to sexual exploration to a totally new level.

Bottom Line?

Beyond physical stimulation, some people can also orgasm only by thinking about sex. The brain, after all, is the sexiest organ in your body. So that’s definitely one more reason why you should educate yourself on how your body works, what gives you pleasure, and what you truly like.

Focus on yourself, make space and time to experience your bodily sensations to the fullest. Knowing yourself will help you live a better sexual life and experience amazing orgasms.
